As such, Heroes, much as I love it, kills me a little each time with its bad science. I think it gets off relatively light with some scolding. I like it, actually. Especially if Peter has somehow picked up the Niki/Jessica split powers. Because I'm not convinced that Niki's ability isn't the ability to absorb personalities (much like Peter absorbs powers), and her twin sister would be a pretty likely candidate. How Peter has physically split himself, I can't say. ...unless all the focus on regeneration of limbs leads to the ability to split into two halves, each of which would then regenerate the missing bits.
