Larry Sabato is the director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, and in his expert opinion, “The [news] cycle demands new information and interesting wrinkles about presidential candidates.”
On ABC News, Sabato went on to say that campaigns recognize that voters get bored by policy and are trying to connect with them.
“Everyone can relate to a candidate who doesn’t pick up his socks, he said. “It is irrelevant information but people do like to have an insight into who this person is.”
