Presidential Geek Survey Diary – Day 59

John Edwards has gone and done it, now. He’s guaranteed that he won’t be the next president of the United States because he said that word that Americans hate hearing: SACRIFICE.

Specifically, he wants Americans to give up driving SUVs in exchange for more fuel efficient vehicles in an effort to reduce carbon emissions and maybe, just maybe, stop being such selfish gits.

Edwards said, ““We are the worst polluter on the planet. We are 4 percent of the world’s population, we’re putting out 25 percent of the world’s greenhouse gas. America’s going to have to change.”

Being a conscientious Geek, I think this is perfectly reasonable.

American car makers
have already responded with the usual “SUVs ARE SAFE!!!!” temper tantrum, but this time, they’re also comparing Edwards to a book burner and a Communist.

John, at this point, I’d say you’ve got nothing to lose from responding to the Geek Survey. Geeks aren’t as powerful as the car manufacturers and oil companies who will likely bury you, but we’re much more open to progressive ideas.

Unless, Chrysler
makes a hovercraft anytime soon. Then this Geek is totally on their side.

Lisa Fary's earliest influences are Princess Leia, Rainbow Bright, Astronaut Barbie, and her 6th grade teacher, Ms. Palmer. She's angry that it's 2011 and she still doesn't have a hovercraft, but will accept a jetpack as consolation. That jetpack had better be pink with a rhinestone monogram.
