The 4400: Ghost in the Machine

The 4400 - The Complete Third SeasonMost action packed episode ever! Tom Baldwin freaks out in Promise City, breaking Jordan Collier’s kneecap, bashing his son’s head in with a shovel and smacking Diana Skouris in the face with the shovel’s handle!

PSYCH!!!!

It was all one Tom Baldwin’s daydreams. Yeah, that hasn’t been overused at all. That’s a shame because Agent Skouris could use a good smack in the face and Kyle could use a good brain hemorrhage.

Can we put him back in a coma like he was at the beginning? He’s a lousy right hand man for Jordan Collier because he’s too much of a lapdog and doesn’t have the capacity to think for himself.

Maybe Cassie isn’t really his ability. I bet his true ability is something lame like unquestioning obedience to anyone who doesn’t breathe through their mouth.

But, back to Tom Baldwin, or as he’s now known, Creepy Tom. You know he’s creepy because of the lighting. All creepy people are lit directly from above so they get that shadowy looking face that strikes fear into the heart of melodramatic actresses and jittery puppies everywhere. Creepy Tom has had Shadow Face a few times since he was taken over by Sinister Future Guy.

Unless Creepy Tom was taken over by Sinister Future Gal. Oooh! A woman trapped in a man’s body! That would be a nice twist that would create some fun situations!

Creepy Tom also watches his girlfriend sleep. I’ve read several times in women’s magazines that that sort of thing is supposed to be “cute” and “sweet” and “romantic”, but I’ve always found it to be pretty unsettling and I’m glad that whoever wrote this episode seems to think so, too.

That’s the only thing I’m glad about because everything else pretty much sucked.

However, I will be glad again when The 4400 is finished. I think there are only two more episodes left, which will end in another final battle. Maybe the upcoming season finale will surprise me and actually be daring, killing off some main characters to make room for a new approach.

But, if it does, it will probably be another one of Creepy Tom’s daydreams.

Lisa Fary's earliest influences are Princess Leia, Rainbow Bright, Astronaut Barbie, and her 6th grade teacher, Ms. Palmer. She's angry that it's 2011 and she still doesn't have a hovercraft, but will accept a jetpack as consolation. That jetpack had better be pink with a rhinestone monogram.
