Kyle XY: House of Cards
I’ve missed the last couple of episodes of Kyle XY. Last week I was trapped in Virginia and the week before our cable was out because the roofers decided to just cut ten feet of cable out of their way rather than picking it up.
Jerks.
And what kind of “welcome back” did I get from Kyle XY? A boring one with lots of sincere, sad schnauzer looks from Lori Trager and quasi-suspicious behavior from Papa Trager.
And Tom Foss did his whiny yelling thing. He’s good at that.
I’m starting to get sick of Kyle’s voice over. Does he really need to narrate his every thought and action? Shouldn’t that stuff come out in a more natural way, like in a conversation with Declan or Foss.
Zzyzyx (or Zzygy or Fizzgig or whatever it’s called) and Madacorps and their buddy rings are getting old, too.
As often as I mock the Trager brother, he seems to be the one character that’s growing and developing some emotional depth. Every scene he was in was touching and subtle. There was a lot of opportunity to make Andie’s cancer crisis into more afterschool special melodrama, but it was handled really well and actually made me a bit weepy.
So, if writers can do that with the Trager brother and Andie, why can’t they do it consistently with all of the characters?
