Presidential Geek Survey Diary – Day 34

Candidates will bicker over their political track records, but Mike Huckabee and Sam Brownback are trying a different approach to discrediting one another in the public eye. They’re bickering about righteousness.

It started with a Huckabee supporter – an evangelical reverend not associated with the campaign – who did some independent grassroots work on behalf the former Arkansas governor. He sent an email to a couple of Brownback supporters trying to get them to switch sides, specifically bringing up Brownback’s 2002 conversion to Roman Catholicism as a reason to abandon him as a candidate.

Brownback demanded and apology from the Huckabee people; the Huckabee people responded by calling Brownback a whiner and stating that some of their best friends are Catholic.

Guys, can you stop
the petty squabbling over something that has no impact on the effective running of a country and get to a weightier discussion? You know, like the Geek Survey? You guys get into a tizzy over a single reverend with email access, but you can’t even look in the Geek direction. Is it the pasty skin? Does it blind you?
