The 4400: Wrath of Graham

4400What’s been going on in the 4400-verse since last summer? Promicin has been on the street for a while and thousands of people have died by injecting it. Diana Skouris is in Spain with her stolen boyfriend and Maia. Tom Baldwin is still looking for Alana, who was taken again at the end of last season. Isabelle is in prison and her dad, Richard, is missing.

Jordan Collier has a mildly bad conscience about the promicin related deaths, but not enough to leave the cabin where he’s hiding out with Tess and Kevin to do anything about it. At least, not until high school reject Graham Holt comes into the picture. Holt injected himself with promicin, and now everyone who comes in contact with him thinks he’s a god. He does what any teenager in that situation would do: he hooks up with the most popular girl in school and takes over the city, converting the population into black hoodie wearing disciples.

So, it looks like that’s where
this season of The 4400 is going to go: normal people injecting themselves with promicin and NTAC dealing with them as they cause trouble.

In one of her irritating
“I’m a creepy little girl who sees the future” moments, Maia says mommy isn’t coming back after Skouris left to check things out in Seattle. I hope this means Maia is getting written out of the show or just won’t be around as much. Maia has the same problem as Walt from Lost: she’s growing faster than time on the show is passing. Plus, the creepy little girl act is getting old.

Collier finally showed his ability
- to neutralize promicin in non-4400s – which makes me wonder what his plan is since he put it on the street in the first place. In the episode, he said that putting promicin on the street stopped the “catastrophe” that’s been endlessly referred to since the beginning, but there’s no proof of that.

“Wrath of Graham” was an OK start to season four. I’ve been a fan of The 4400 since season one, and while it’s had it’s missteps, it’s never really disappointed me.

Lisa Fary's earliest influences are Princess Leia, Rainbow Bright, Astronaut Barbie, and her 6th grade teacher, Ms. Palmer. She's angry that it's 2011 and she still doesn't have a hovercraft, but will accept a jetpack as consolation. That jetpack had better be pink with a rhinestone monogram.

….And Maia is a creepy little bastard child.

I think I’d like Maia better if she was creepier. Right now, she kind of toes the line of creepy without committing to being creepy. It’s like they’re trying too hard to make her a cute kid, when tweens are usually not cute.
