Pink Raygun Reviews: Perfect Storm

Perfect Storm was previously an online comic strip created by comic book artist Rob Jones which was recently relaunched as a print comic book. I’ve never read the strip, but luckily, the issue of Perfect Storm that arrived in my mailbox is an intro to the character and her world, so I wasn’t distracted by putting pieces together.

Erin Storm is a bad ass, independent government operative. In Book One of the Convention Series, she’s in a psychiatrist’s office and most of the action takes place in flashbacks with her narration. Unlike Lost flashbacks, these actually accomplish something.

I really like Rob Jones’ artwork in this comic. It’s clean, realistic and old school. He does a great job capturing the characters’ emotions in their facial expressions. I can’t place Erin’s face, but she looks looks really familiar, like someone I might have gone to high school with.

The artwork holds my interest and Erin is likable enough, and compelling enough, to carry a series. I’m looking forward to seeing where Perfect Storm goes.

Perfect Storm is available for purchase from Harbor Comics. See Rob Jones’ contribution to the Pink Raygun Gallery here.
