Heroes: Landslide

I didn’t hate Mega Morphing Power Bitch this week. It’s like under MMPB’s many layers of bitch cake, there’s a creamy center that holds the remnants of the zit-faced 7th grader she used to be. And really, aren’t we all a zit-faced 7th grader inside? Also, she believes that Linderman will change the world so, in her mind, she’s using her bitch powers for good, not just because she can.

The beginning was kind
of hinkey, with Peter’s heavy breathing and furrowed forehead, sounding so sincere as he tells Claire to shoot him. He looked like he was making a pooping face.

Then Nikki taking a loud gasp of air as Jessica vacated the premises was silly, too. Was Nikki drowning or sinking in quicksand of the psyche or something? Was she holding her breath in her mind? And since when did Jessica give a monkey’s butt about what Nikki would do?

Can someone just throw that woman out a window?

The training sequence with
Hiro and George Takei was cool and gives an indication of what’s going to happen next week. Just in those few minutes, Hiro showed more resolve and realized what it takes to really be the hero he wants to be: he has to be willing to die.

Isaac had done a painting of Hiro and a dinosaur and I wonder if there are allusions there to the story of Takezo Kensei and the dragon. I know we already saw Hiro pull his wooden sword on the dinosaur at the museum while he had stopped time. Now, I’m thinking that the painting may have been the future only in a metaphorical sense, like the dinosaur represents the old guard of heroes lead by Linderman. It was Isaac’s first time painting the future without heroin; something weird could have happened there.

Here’s how I see it going down next week: Mohinder is finally going to take decisive action and shoot Bennett and Parkman to save the little girl. Nikki will get to Micah and have a showdown with MMPB, who will win. Ando will die trying to kill Sylar. Peter and Hiro will end up taking Sylar on together. They’ll be successful, but Hiro will get killed. Any other ideas?

  1. The way I see it, there’s no reason for Mohinder to shoot Parkman – Parkman’s already down, clunked by Mo before the standoff with Bennett. Before that, it was Parkman who seemed totally horrified with the thought of killing Molly. My prediction is, Parkman wakes up at a tense moment in the standoff (possibly as Mo is about to pull the trigger,) clocks Bennett from behind, Mohinder takes Molly and runs. There will definitely be a Candice/Nikki standoff – I feel like Candice can’t really fight Nikki, though. She’s not super-strong – for all intents and purposes, she merely projects a glamour, so her powers are more useful in evasion. All Nikki would need was one lucky strike and MMPB would taking her last breath through the back of her skull. So Candice runs from Nikki, only to meet up w/Sylar (leaving the realization of the “5 Years Gone” dystopia an open possibility.) Hiro may be forced to sacrifice Ando for the greater goal, or he could come to the rescue just a second too late – either way, Ando dies, and Hiro ends up badly wounded but surviving. Sylar gets away with the help of Candice’s power.

Of course, I’m probably wrong about all of that, since this show defies my expectations about 70% of the time.

  2. I keep thinking about that scene last week with Micah running through doors and all of them leading back to the room he had just left. MMPB may not take out Nikki, but has a good shot at getting away.

Whatever happens, I don’t see it ending well for everyone.

What I found to be really interesting is that there seems to be a split in the older heroes. Some are good, some went to the dark side like Linderman and Mamma Petrelli. I want to know what Papa Nakamura’s power is. He said he’s been waiting a long time for a Nakamura to show powers, so maybe he’s got longevity?
I really dig that the symbol on the sword means “Godsend.”
I think Hiro and Peter are going to make it out alive. I think Claire is the only one who can stop Sylar from going nuclear, and she knows exactly which spot in his brain to hit to kill him for good.
    Just a thought.

  4. When I saw the Pokemon movie, and Pikachu was sobbing, trying to “crash cart” a dead Ash, screaming “piii…. ka…. CHUUUU!” over and over again before crying tiny pika tears and giving up…. i resolved at that moment… I never want to see a Pikachu cry again.

I felt that exact same way when Nathan Petrelli blew off Hiro, and he starts to whimper and shout “You already bad man! You villain! You villain!” in his adorable, heartbroken, comicbook paradyme little way.

If anyone ever again makes Hiro Nakamura cry, I will kick their ass.

  5. I am with Jennifer on this one. Anyone who makes Hiro cry is obviously a very bad man.
