Even amidst all of this chaos, his sadness over the loss of his wife, and his frustration at not being taken seriously at times, he is still the major voice of tolerance, peace, and inter-cultural sharing on the SG-1 team. Whereas other members of the American military often want to react with violence to unfamiliar situations, he consistently urges peace and understanding, between international and interstellar peoples. Bless his dear heart.

Still wounded over his wife’s absence, our Galahad is seduced against his will via pheromones by a Goa’uld queen, Hathor, in an effort to use his DNA to make a new species of Goa’uld.

While trapped in a virtual reality device, he is forced to witness the death of his parents over and over and over again, ala Groundhog Day, as part of a sick game.

It looks like Daniel’s fortunes are improving, when he is reunited with Sha’re briefly. Due to her pregnancy by Apophis, she is temporarily able to wrest control of her body from her Goa’uld, Amonet. But Daniel doesn’t get that lucky. Amonet gets control back shortly before the baby is born, and he and Teal’c end up stealing the baby and tricking her into thinking it died. He considers himself a stepfather of sorts to the child, and stashes it somewhere safe, with the ascended being Oma Desala.

Daniel saves the life of a princess named Shyla. She takes a shine to him, and forces the rest of SG-1 to work in the mines on her planet until Daniel agrees to marry her. He does so at first just to free his team, and she gets him to go for a few rides in the sarcophagus, which turns out to be addictive for long term constant use. He refuses to leave his girl, or his fix, and while tendering his resignation, collapses due to withdrawal. Goes into cardiac arrest. They revive him. [DEATH #3]

Due to an accident involving an alien gadget, he ends up being transferred into the body of a dying old man named Ma’chello. He dies and is revived in this as well, and put back in his own body. [DEATH #4]

And even after all THIS… when Apophis lay dying, due to the weakness of the symbiote, host is allowed to speak for the first time in millennia. Daniel shows compassion on this poor creature that wears the face of his tormentor, and promises that he will be buried according to ancient custom in Egypt.

The universe is not yet convinced that Daniel has had enough, so Amonet/Sha’re abducts him, and tortures him to the point of death. Teal’c is forced to kill her to save Daniel’s life. While Daniel understands that his intentions were pure, that it wasn’t “really his wife, and that there was no other way, he never fully forgives Teal’c for this.
