Heroes: Five Years Gone

Can we do something about Mohinder Suresh? The guy has great hair, and he means well, but he’s a menace. Mo, aren’t you getting a little tired of getting tricked by Sylar? What are we up to? Three times now? Get some street smarts, stop trusting people and become a cynic like the rest of us.

I love that Samurai Hiro and Peter are so bad ass that they just walk through the front door of Homeland Security to get what they want. That whole scene was a bit Matrix-y, right down to Peter’s trench coat and the showdown between him and Sylar.

And what was up with Nikki? Did she really think that Peter was going to pass up a chance to save the world in exchange for her sweet loving arms? And what happened to Jessica? Unless. . .

Nikki didn’t seem to recognize Ando at the club. This is a guy who broke into her house (earlier this season); you’d think she’d remember that face. I’m thinking that, in 2012, Nikki isn’t really Nikki; it’s Jessica playing that role. After DL left and Micah died, what would Nikki really have to live for? In that state, it would be easy for Jessica to take over. But, who cares about her? Everyone else is much more interesting.

Matt Parkman turned into quite the dickweed of the future. Was he so beaten down by his dyslexia and getting suspended from the police force that he’s just went mad with power? The way he took out Bennett was heartless. The way he said “I want to put him down” about Sweetie Hiro, like he’d killed dozens of times before. The guy was a pit bull.

Supposedly, Hiro is the one who kills Sylar, but I don’t know. Sweetie Hiro is too unsteady and uncontrolled. He doesn’t exactly have nerves of steel. And, the comic book panel showing Hiro plunging his sword into someone is ambiguous. There was no dialogue on that page. The guy at the business end of Hiro’s sword was just an unshaven guy with dark hair. It could have been Peter.

Maybe that’s the answer. A Peter-plosion almost happened midway through the season and was thwarted by a knock out punch from The Invisible Man. Plunge a sword into Peter as he’s going nuclear and there’s no explosion. No Linderman Act. No Sylar for President. The added bonus is that Peter doesn’t have to die.

As for Sylar, he has gotten to the point where no one hero will be able to take him down. The other heroes will have to form a superhero team and take him down together. I’ll be disappointed if this little girl who’s getting introduced next week eliminates him. That’s just too cliched. Unless the kid is a roundhouse kicking telekinetic and fights like Yoda. That would be cool.

  1. I actually think I’m mroe in love with future Peter than future Hiro, which is amazing. Is it sick and sad that the scar all the way across his face is hot?

  2. Not sick and sad at all. His scar shows experience and a willingness to throw down if neccessary. Getting the hair out of his face helped, too.
